How to Get Rid of Gloss, Oil & Other Paint Fumes in Summerland, CA; Charcoal for Smell & More

If you want to freshen up the look of a room in your home there are lots of ways to do that. You can have the room deep cleaned to start and then add some new décor to the space. If you want to make a bigger change to the space you can add a fresh coat of paint on the walls as well. A new coat of paint is a great way to spruce up a room and change the overall feel if you choose. Although this is a great way to freshen up a room it will usually leave an odor in the home. The odor is from the chemicals that are used to create the paint. There are some paints that have less of an odor while others have a much more aggressive odor. You want to be able to live in the space after you are done painting the room but often times the smell can keep you out.

    Are Paint Fumes Harmful?

When you have your home painted and the paint leaves an odor behind it is not just an annoyance. The fumes that are left behind and in the house can cause some health concerns for the people that are living there. First many people will complain of feelings of dizziness, headache, trouble breathing and eye irritation. These are all things that can make staying in the house uncomfortable and not such a great idea. That is why you want to do what you can to avoid the exposure. McKay’s Painting outlines how to remove paint odors inside the house.

    Charcoal for Paint Smell

If there is a room that has been painted it can have lingering odors. It is best to do something to get the odor out as soon as you can. One option that you have is to use a product that is able to soak up the odor. Charcoal is a great option and has the ability to soak in the odors that are left in the room. You can purchase charcoal and place it in some containers and around the room that was painted. The great thing is that the charcoal will make a huge difference in as little as a day. Some people will choose to use the charcoal in the room before they even start the painting process to help filter out the smell as it happens.

Baking Soda to Remove Paint Odors

If you don’t want to go out and find charcoal or you want to use something that you have already in the home them go for baking soda. It has the same ability that the charcoal does in the way that is soaks up the odors. You can set a few bowls of baking soda out in the room to help absorb the smells. You can also use water with the baking soda in bowls. After 24 hours you can remove them and replace them if the odor persists.
